New Feline Tag Now Available A new feline spay/neuter awareness tag is now available along with the two tags already out. The tag features a black and white tuxedo cat called Hope and proceeds will go to the Georgia Dog and Cat Sterilization Program. These tags are the primary funding source for the program which helps pay for procedures done by licensed, accredited veterinarians in all counties. The DCSP has helped with more than 35,000 spay/neuters since 2003. More than $22 from each tag goes directly to the program. When it comes time to buy your tag please consider one of the three tags that benefit this great program. |

Horse Tag For all you horse lovers don't despair. Georgia has a tag for you too! The new horse tag provides funds for promotion, research, and educational programs for state's equine industry. |

Humane Education Program in Demand We began the NGAL Humane Ed. Project in the 2008-2009 school year. Our partners at the Chickamauga Public Library worked with us to reach Kindergarten and 3rd Grade students in the Chickamauga Elementary, Rock Spring Elementary, Chattanooga Valley Elementary, and Cherokee Ridge Elementary schools. We read to 697 children. The themes of the books we read are compassion for all animals, what animals need from us, and the responsibility we have to our pets to ensure that their needs will be met. In the 2009-2010 school year, we expanded our library partnership to the Rossville and Lafayette Public Libraries, as well as the Chickamauga location. We were able to reach all the Kindergarten and 3rd grade classes in the schools listed above, and added those grades in the North Lafayette Elementary, Gilbert Elementary, Naomi Elementary, Rossville Elementary, and Fairyland Elementary schools. We read to 1,098 children, using the same books as the prior year. In the last school year, 2010-2011, because of missed snow days, we were only able to visit one school (Chattanooga Valley Ele.) where we read to 120 Kindergarten children. We are eager to get started again in the Fall. |
